The Bengaluru property tax auction drive is set to intensify as the Greater Bengaluru Authority prepares to auction 50 properties in the Bommanahalli zone to recover pending tax dues.
Officials said the Bengaluru property tax auction will be conducted on March 13 to recover more than ₹95.5 lakh from property tax defaulters.
According to the GBA, the auction will take place at 11 am on March 13 at the zonal office building on Begur Main Road. The proceedings will be conducted under the supervision of the zonal joint commissioner of the Bengaluru South City Corporation.
Officials said the step follows a series of notices issued to property owners who did not pay their outstanding taxes. Despite being given repeated opportunities to settle their dues, several owners did not respond, prompting the civic body to initiate recovery measures.
The Bommanahalli zone has already witnessed similar action in recent weeks. On February 21, the GBA conducted an auction of 30 properties in the area as part of its tax recovery drive. During the process, owners of 13 properties stepped forward and cleared their dues immediately to halt the auction of their assets. Also Read: Top Residential Projects of Sobha Ltd in Bangalore
Following that exercise, officials prepared another list of 50 properties identified for auction on February 27. The list included 17 properties from the earlier batch as well as 33 additional defaulters. Before the auction proceedings could begin, 14 property owners paid their pending dues and avoided further action.
GBA Commissioner KN Ramesh said that show cause notices and formal property tax demand notices had been issued to all defaulters in advance. Adequate time was given for payment, he added, but continued non payment forced the civic body to proceed with the auction process.
The action is being carried out under the provisions of the Greater Bengaluru Administration Act 2025 and the Property Tax Assessment, Collection and Administration Rules 2024, which require all properties within municipal limits to pay property tax annually.
Officials added that property owners still have an opportunity to clear their dues before the proceedings begin and prevent their assets from being auctioned.
If the payments are settled in time, the properties will be removed from the Bengaluru property tax auction list.
