Meta Platforms Inc. has renewed the lease for its commercial office space in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, committing to a total rent exceeding ₹2 billion (₹2 bn), according to market sources. The agreement covers multiple office units occupied by the company in one of the city’s highly followed business hubs.

The renewal highlights the continued appeal of BKC among large technology firms, particularly those seeking premium, centrally located workspaces. Meta has maintained a presence in the complex for several years, operating from contiguous floors across its leased units. The transaction aligns with a broader trend of major corporate lease renewals in Mumbai, indicating stability in office leasing activity after a period of uncertainty.

Market observers noted that such high-value renewals reflect a strong occupier preference for Grade A office stock, especially in prime districts. These deals are typically structured with built-in rental escalations linked to prevailing market conditions, ensuring long-term value for landlords while offering tenants operational continuity.

Industry analysts view the renewal as an indicator of resilience in Mumbai’s commercial real estate market. Despite the rise of hybrid work models, companies continue to prioritize well-located offices that support collaboration and employee engagement. This has sustained demand for premium office spaces in established business districts like BKC.

The transaction also reinforces landlord confidence in maintaining steady rental income streams. Experts believe that such large-scale renewals could encourage further leasing activity and strengthen investor sentiment in the sector.

Going forward, market participants are expected to closely track lease renewals and fresh leasing inquiries to determine whether demand remains concentrated among a few large occupiers or becomes more broad-based.
