Voices rise as Greater Noida homebuyers stage a vivid protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding swift action on over a lakh pending registries.
In the demonstration of frustration and determination, residents from various societies in Greater Noida West converged at Jantar Mantar to voice their ongoing battle for the registration of their homes. After a year of protests at Ek Murti Chowk yielded no results, these homebuyers have chosen the iconic protest site in the heart of Delhi to draw attention to their plight.
Abhishek Kumar, President of the New Era Flat Owners Association (NEFOWA), emphasised the urgent need for action on over a lakh pending registries. Pointing fingers at the bureaucratic gap between state and central government departments, Kumar urged officials to prioritise the residents' needs over hefty paperwork. He said, "Our plea goes beyond repetitive tendering processes; we demand concrete progress – the completion of projects, immediate registration, and the construction of a metro station crucial for the development of Greater Noida West."
Mihir Gautam, the convener of the registry and possession movement, expressed disbelief at the government's apparent overlooking of the struggles faced by homebuyers caught in the crossfire between authorities and builders. "These homebuyers are being extorted, and it's disheartening that the government fails to empathise," Gautam stated.
Despite the recommendations put forth by the Amitabh Kant Committee to resolve registry and possession-related issues, Dipankar Gupta, a resident of Panchsheel Greens2, highlighted the authorities' nonchalant attitude, leaving thousands of homebuyers stranded in uncertainty.
