In a fire accident in the Jay Bhavani SRA building, Goregaon, seven people were killed, including two minors, and 62 were injured, among whom five are in critical condition. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the patients and the site of the accident.
A fire safety audit is defined as a tool that assists in assessing all the fire safety standards of some building or property. The fire safety audits are to examine and test the fire risks and the measures for preventing and reducing fire risks.
After the fire accident in a Goregaon building on Friday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the patients in the Trauma Care Hospital located in Jogeshwari and the accident site. He also asked the officials to conduct fire audits of all SRA buildings. Eknath Shinde also said that an officer would be appointed to conduct the fire safety audits of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority buildings.
The State Tourism Minister, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, ordered the officials to set up a committee investigating the Goregaon fire accident. The Slum Rehabilitation Buildings are made for slum dwellers when private entities clear the land on which they are staying for further development.
