Gurugram is fighting against the illegal construction of buildings. 29 individuals, even doctors, were caught in 4 months.

Law enforcement has taken decisive action in a sequence to curb unauthorised construction and the improper use of residential properties for commercial activities in Gurugram.

Over the last four months, 96 cases have been filed, leading to the arrest of 29 individuals, including doctors and consultants.

The Enforcement Bureau police station, established in Gurgaon, played a major role in identifying and addressing these cases. Many accused individuals explained to the police that they resorted to unauthorized construction or commercial use of their residential spaces to supplement their income. Some claimed they were expanding their homes to accommodate more family members.

Inspector Arvind Dahiya, the station house officer of the EB police station, highlighted that investigations are ongoing, with additional arrests anticipated. Chargesheets are being prepared for cases where investigations have concluded.

In addition to these cases, eight instances of illegal colony construction in Pataudi, Farrukhnagar, and Sultanpur were flagged at the police station. These cases emerged following joint efforts by the police station and the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in a drive against illegal colonies.

DSP Praveen Malik emphasised that actions are also being taken against the land mafia involved in developing these illegal colonies, with potential penalties of up to three years of imprisonment.
