
lBMC Budget 2026-27 has set a new record as Mumbai’s civic body unveiled an outlay of ₹80,952.56 crore on Wednesday. Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani presented the civic budget before Standing Committee Chairman Prabhakar Shinde, marking the largest financial plan in the corporation’s history.
The civic budget is over ₹6,500 crore higher than last year’s estimate of ₹74,427.41 crore, showing a sharp rise in spending plans. The biggest revenue source remains compensation in place of tax, expected to bring in ₹15,550.02 crore. Development Plan fees and premiums are projected at ₹12,050 crore, pointing to strong construction and real estate activity in the city.

Property tax continues to play a key role in funding civic work. The target for 2026-27 is ₹7,000 crore, up from last year’s revised estimate of ₹6,200 crore.
