Amitabh Bachchan gifts his bungalow, 'Prateeksha' worth Rs. 50.63 Cr, to his daughter, Shweta Nanda, weaving Bollywood's iconic tales of love and legacy.
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has gifted his bungalow, 'Prateeksha,' located in the Juhu suburb, to his daughter Shweta Nanda. Official documents reveal that the luxurious property, valued at Rs. 50.63 crore, was formally transferred on November 9.
Prateeksha holds sentimental value as the megastar's first property in the city. Situated in the Vitthal Nagar Cooperative Housing Society, the estate spans two plots totalling 674 square meters and 890.47 square meters.
Documents accessed from Zapkey(dot)com show that Bachchan executed the transfer as a heartfelt gift to his daughter and paid a stamp duty of Rs. 50.65 lakh. The registration fee of Rs. 200 for each of the two plots, accompanied by the transfer, completes the legalities of this grand gesture.
Of the two plots, the larger one, measuring 890.47 square metres, was jointly owned by Amitabh Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan, while the smaller plot solely belonged to Amitabh Bachchan.
'Prateeksha' holds a special place in the Bachchan family's history, hosting the wedding ceremonies of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in 2007. Another iconic property, 'Jalsa,' and the office-like 'Janak' are the other two bungalows owned by the family in the same locality.
Interestingly, reports suggest that the name 'Prateeksha' was given by Amitabh's poet father, Harivanshrai Bachchan, and the property itself is featured in one of his timeless poems.
