Actor Aamir Khan, who in his film Lagaan had opposed land tax, has been asked to deposit Rs 817 as rent by the local administration for the agricultural land held by him and his family here.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shahabad, Ashok Shukla has directed Aamir and his family members to clear the dues. A letter in this regard was given to the caretaker of Aamir's ancestral house yesterday, the SDM said today.

He said Aamir and his family members have ancestral land in Akhtiyarpur village and the lagaan was deposited every year.
