The Nawab of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan, son of cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan and actress Sharmila Tagore, is a famous Bollywood star and producer often known for his cheeky, dimpled smile and quirky voice. He did not inherit the Pataudi Palace from his father but had to earn his way through it.
The Pataudi Palace, the Khan family's jewel, is located in Haryana. It is spread over 10 acres with around 150 rooms, including seven bedrooms, seven dressing rooms and seven billiard rooms, which exude culture, history and royal legacy.
The current owners of the Pataudi Palace are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. They reside in Mumbai with their two sons but often spend their time in this royal palace on special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and festivals. From Taimur's first birthday to Kareena's birthday, the Pataudi Palace has often been an excellent royal abode for these grand festivities.
The Pataudi Palace, made in 1935, was first owned by Iftikhar Ali Khan, an Indian Prince (last ruling Nawab) and Cricketer. He built it for his wife, who was from the royals of Bhopal. Robert Tor Russell, a British Architect, designed the palace with the help of Karl Moltz, an Austrian Architect. After Iftikhar Ali Khan passed away, the palace was inherited by his son Mansoor Ali Khan.
The royal palace boasts luxurious aesthetics, adding worth to its overall price. The Pataudi Palace is worth over a whopping Rs. 800 Crore with 150 rooms in total, including multiple bedrooms, dressing rooms, and billiard rooms.
Mansoor Ali Khan signed a 17-year lease with Francis Wacziarg and Aman Nath, the owners of the Neemrana Hotels Network, to use the Pataudi Palace as a hotel or holiday home. So, after his death, the property no longer belonged to the Pataudi. In 2014, Saif Ali Khan was given an offer to buy the Pataudi Palace in exchange for a heavy sum, which Saif ultimately accepted.
The Pataudi Palace shows off its lush lawns with the mesmerizing fountain in front of the perfect dome. The hallway is extravagant, surrounded by walls holding pictures and paintings with wooden cabinets on both sides of the hallway. The floor's black and white checkerboard-style tiles enhance the room's aura.
The living space is enclosed by pink walls with pictures and paintings hanging on them. The light pink sofa adds a texture to the beauty of the room. All the rooms in the Pataudi Palace have a touch of royalty and elegance, showcasing the extravagant lifestyles of the people residing there.
Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan often celebrate festivities with their extended families at the Pataudi Palace. Occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and auspicious festivals are mostly toasted extravagantly at the palace.
Blockbuster movies like Veer Zara, Mangal Pandey, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Animal and even Hollywood movies like Eat Pray Love have been shot in this grand palace featuring royal aesthetics and emanating Indian culture in just the perfect proportions.
