In 1980, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor inherited the Krishna Raj Bungalow on Pali Hill, where they have resided with their children Ranbir and Riddhima for the past 35 years. Currently, the Kapoors have decided to pull down their historic bungalow. The couple planned to replace it with an 8-storey high-rise building in 2019, but it took three years to complete.
The Krishna Raj Bungalow, also known as the RK Bungalow, carries immense historical importance, as it was constructed by Rishi Kapoor's parents, Raj Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor, 76 years ago. The property derived its name from them. In 1980, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor became the inheritors of this opulent bungalow in Pali Hill. As per reports, fifteen years ago, the approximate value of the bungalow was around Rs. 30 Crore.
After undergoing renovations for the past three years, and after the demise of Rishi Kapoor, the bungalow is now prepared for Neetu Kapoor, her son Ranbir Kapoor, daughter-in-law Alia Bhatt, and granddaughter Raha to move in.
Neetu Kapoor's private room will be on the first floor, while Ranbir and his family will reside on another floor. The fourth floor was designed for Riddhima Kapoor, her husband, businessman Bharat Sahni, and her daughter when they were in Mumbai.
Other floors are designed with a definite purpose. One floor is dedicated to recreational activities, such as a swimming pool, while another is designed for official work, providing actors with space to narrate the script. The building includes a dedicated area with all the valuable possessions of Late actor Rishi Kapoor, including his chair and bookshelf.
The Address of Krishna Raj Bungalow is 56, Krishna Raj, Pali Hill, Bandra West, Mumbai-400050. Architect Yomesh Rao designed the bungalow, which has 45 car parking spots.
The living room in Ranbir Kapoor's bungalow has a serene interior painted with a combination of brown, white, and beige. The light-coloured furniture contributes to the aesthetic charm of the living space, creating an overall soothing ambience.
The room features grey and white marble flooring and a white-washed wooden ceiling, imparting a sense of cohesion and sophistication. Creamy beige-coloured couches complement the lighter, darker tone of the rug beneath them. The room looks even brighter with white interiors and grey-white marble.
Furthermore, dark wood details are placed throughout the space to make the room look more lavish, and several large mirrors are placed across the room, which also makes the room look even more spacious.
The TV room features warm wooden flooring and gentle yellow lighting, which serves as a retreat within the Kapoor mansion, presenting a design distinct from the light and airy family room. Enhancing the ambience of the TV room, there is a geometric rug in earthy colours of terra cotta, military green, and mustard.
Apart from a grand living room in the RK bungalow, numerous artistic pieces contribute significantly to the overall ambience. Neetu Kapoor's craze for art is evident in the collections of the most valuable and richly-hued paintings. Various decorative items are placed strategically, and even the coffee table is adorned with exquisite decorative crystals and silver knick-knacks, transforming a simple spot into an elegant space with a completely new and positive vibe.
Lights adorned the Krishna Raj Bungalow to celebrate the star couple's April 14, 2022 wedding. This bungalow has served as the venue for numerous weddings and significant events within the Kapoor family, including the union of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.
The Kapoors celebrate special occasions like Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, or Raksha Bandhan with their extended family. During these times, the bungalow is decorated and adorned with vibrant marigolds and golden lamps, creating a harmonious blend with the all-white interiors and soft beige curtains.
Krishna Raj Bungalow has an entertainment room with warm-tone flooring and simple yet functional furniture.
